Check the other country's law before you apply
Govt.nz recommends checking with the foreign representative of the other country. Some countries allow dual citizenship automatically, some require permission, and some may treat acquiring New Zealand citizenship as a loss of the original nationality.

When applying for New Zealand citizenship, you need to tell DIA about other countries of which you are already a citizen.
Do not assume New Zealand law protects the other citizenship
New Zealand can allow you to hold both, but it cannot control another country's nationality law. If keeping your existing citizenship is important, obtain reliable information from that country's competent authority before you complete the process.
